Previously, she taught at the primary school level for 9 years before moving on to pursue her terminal degree in Child Development and Early Education.
We (Sanique, Jermaine and Suzan South) established the Granville & Viola South Scholarship Fund in memory of our parents. Our parents had a passion for contributing to education, learning, and helping others in the community and were active in school functions and activities. We are from a small rural district in Manchester, Jamaica where students are limited by financial constraints and lack of resources. There are students who have completed high school and are unable to matriculate into tertiary education because of financial constraints. Our goal is to utilize this fund to provide opportunities for students which would be otherwise challenging. We were blessed to have the support of our parents and we are aware not everyone has that support system. With the motivation and support of our parents, we were able to defy the odds. The dedication and determination instilled by our parents are what drives our mission to provide scholarships and mentorship to children from our community. Therefore, we would like to bridge this gap by providing scholarships and mentorship to students from our community.
Genesis 12: 2 – 3 we are, “Blessed to be a blessing to others...”
